MK Hair Studio: A Branding Photoshoot Inside the Salon

Team of MK Hair

The photographs from MK Hair Studio move from the entrance to the salon floor, then closer to the work itself. There are rooms to show, people to introduce and small details of a service that a portrait alone cannot explain. For this branding shoot, I photographed all three.

Showing the space before the appointment

The exterior photograph gives the salon a recognisable entrance. Inside, the waiting chairs, mirrors, styling stations and wash area show how the space is arranged. Together, those views give someone browsing the photographs a sense of the place before they visit.

The gallery also includes the product shelves and colour stock. These are part of the working salon, alongside the wider room views.

Getting closer to the work

In the service photographs, the view moves closer: gloved hands applying colour, a stylist working on a section of hair, scissors and a comb in use. The wider frames place that work inside the salon; the close views give the hands and tools more attention.

That change in distance matters in a business image library. A room photograph shows the setting, while a close view can show what happens there.

Introducing the people

I also photographed individual staff portraits and the team together. The portraits give each person their own image; the group photograph brings the team into one frame. Keeping the salon as the setting connects those photographs with the rest of the series.

Depending on the business's needs, images like these can be used for a team page, staff introductions or a profile alongside information about a service.

Planning a useful set of business photographs

For a salon or another service business, I would start a shot list with four parts: the space, the people, the work and the details. Then we can decide which images need room for website text, which need a vertical crop and which should focus on a particular service.

You can browse my business photography services or tell me about the photographs your business needs. The MK Hair Studio gallery below is one example of how those different subjects can sit together in a single collection.
